Writing Prompt Wednesday: Setting

It’s Wednesday, and for me that means it’s time to give another writing prompt. I love these because they take me out of the writing headspace I’ve been in and give me some time to write something different.

Do you find that prompts help with your writer’s block? If not, what sorts of things do you do to get out of a rut? For me, prompts are just the start, so if you’re interested in seeing a full post on getting over writer’s block, let me know! I’d love to share some of my tips and tricks that I’ve picked up, either from my own experience or from other writers.

Anyway, without further ado, here is your writing prompt for this Wednesday:

Start with a description of a public space like a restaurant, cafe, or dog park. Focus on the setting to give a feel for where your scene/story is taking place.

Just a Note:

Going forward, my Wednesday posts are going to be for writing prompts only. I will post my flash fiction in response to the Wednesday writing prompt on Fridays. The reason being, I wouldn’t want to post my response at the same time in case it influences your idea. Stay tuned for my Flash Fiction Friday post in response to this prompt!

Post your flash fiction response in the comments below, and feel free to link to your blog where I can check out more of your work.

Edit: If you are interested in reading my response to this prompt, you can find the flash fiction post here: The Laundromat

Happy writing, friends!
